Fete Procession Announcement 2018

This year’s Dunchurch Fete procession on 16th June is under threat again.
We have had to cut back the procession as we cannot justify spending the large amount it costs to get a management company to close the road.
For almost 40 years the procession has been run by the us without a problem but over the last few years more stringent controls have been put in place by authorities resulting a ban on use of float trailers, shortening the route and having to get an outside company to manage the road closure.
Now it is the rising cost of getting the traffic management company which is the limiting factor, costing almost £1000 that the committee cannot afford.
Undeterred, we have come up with a solution : Rather than going from the church at the centre of the village using the road to the Fete field at the Village hall, the procession will be starting opposite the Dun Cow car park and going along the footpath next to the road.
Chair of the Fete Committee, Rob Collings, says :
The procession had been going on in the village for 30 years and we cannot let it fade away due to bureaucracy and cost.
The money spent on a management company to close the road will now be going to local good causes instead, but we will still have the procession, just not as big as it was and not using the road
He urged people to come out to support the procession and the fete. He added :
The revised route will be going along the Rugby Road path at 12:30 on Saturday 16th June and the Fete will be as colourful and lively as ever with the Sambassadors of Groove drum band leading us out. We have all the Village organisations walking with their floats and the fete field has all the usual stalls but also circus skills, a dog show, alpacas, cars, bands and dancers etc”.
Please support your local community, support the Village Fete.
